Il Distretto Scolastico 42 serve le cittadine di Maple Ridge e Pitt Meadows, due comunità sicure, accoglienti e orientate alla famiglia, situate a soli 45 minuti a est di Vancouver.
Questa area, incastonata tra la catena montuosa dei Thompson e il fiume Fraser, ospita una popolazione di circa 100.000 abitanti. Maple Ridge è una città dinamica, rinomata per le sue bellezze naturali, la diversità culturale, il clima temperato e le numerose opportunità ricreative ed economiche.
Gli studenti avranno l'opportunità di interagire con coetanei provenienti da vari contesti culturali, favorendo lo sviluppo di prospettive globali e competenze di comunicazione interculturale. Inoltre, la zona offre un'ampia gamma di attività per tutti i gusti: dai sentieri escursionistici alle aree sciistiche, dai cinema multisala alle biblioteche, dai centri ricreativi agli sport acquatici e ai campi sportivi all'aperto.
Il Distretto conta 6 moderne scuole superiori che offrono un'ampia gamma di programmi accademici, corsi AP (advanced placement), Academy sportive ed artistiche, sport e clubs. Alcune scuole offrono il programma speciale IB (International Baccalaureate).
Il sistema didattico adottato è quello lineare, ovvero si frequentano 8 corsi da settembre a giugno.
L'offerta formativa di tutte le scuole del Distretto è allineata al Curriculum del Governo del British Columbia che prevede lo studio delle c.d. core classes nelle principali aree tematiche. Queste includono materie fondamentali quali matematica, biologia, fisica, lingua inglese, scienze, storia ed educazione fisica, garantendo così una preparazione completa e integrata per gli studenti.
Gli studenti sono accolti da famiglie canadesi premurose e coinvolgenti. L'esperienza di vivere con una famiglia ospitante consente agli studenti di focalizzarsi sui propri studi, migliorare le proprie competenze linguistiche in inglese ed integrarsi nella cultura canadese. Le famiglie ospitanti rappresentano la ricca diversità multiculturale della società canadese, offrendo agli studenti un'opportunità unica di vivere un'esperienza arricchente in un contesto culturale differente.
Gli studenti iscritti al Programma Internazionale di Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows hanno la possibilità di partecipare a varie attività tra cui ad esempio le escursioni a Victoria, Rocky Mountains e Whistler Mountain. Le gite sono supervisionate da personale qualificato del distretto scolastico.
È possibile optare per un programma della durata di:
- un anno scolastico, con partenza prevista per la fine di agosto e rientro a fine giugno;
- un semestre scolastico, con partenza a fine agosto e rientro a fine gennaio o con partenza a fine gennaio e rientro a fine giugno;
- un trimestre scolastico, con partenza a fine marzo e rientro a fine giugno
*Gli studenti che frequentano l'intero anno scolastico hanno la possibilità di conseguire il diploma, a condizione di soddisfare i requisiti necessari.

Hockey Academy students earn credit for Physical Education and/or Advanced Hockey. Students are tested both on and off the ice to monitor individual improvement. They also receive video analysis, fitness assessments, one-on-one reviews and player profile reports.
The Microsoft IT Academy (ITA) Program provides students with industry-leading technology skills to help bridge the skills gap. Students receive a digital curriculum and multi-level Microsoft certifications, ranging from Specialist to Expert to Master.

Special Programs: The Soccer Academy (extra fee applies) offers unique soccer-specific courses at Grade 8 to 12 levels. In-class learning includes instruction in fitness, nutrition, strength training, sport philosophy, goal setting, time anagement, leadership skills, coaching philosophies, and laws of the game. On the field, students focus on individual skill development and game principals.
The Microsoft IT Academy (ITA) Program provides students with industry-leading technology skills to help bridge the skills gap. Students receive a digital curriculum and multi-level Microsoft certifications, ranging from Specialist to Expert to Master.
The Basketball Academy (extra fee applies) offers students in grades 8 to 12 instruction in coaching, officiating, first aid, and sports training, including the opportunity to receive certification through the National Coaching Certification Program. On court sessions focus on physical literacy and fundamental movement skills, athletic skills guided by Canada Basketball’s Long-Term Athlete Development model, and basketball specific skills. Basketball instruction is augmented with classroom theory sessions, strength and conditioning classes, and guest speakers.
